A project of The Museo ng Kaalamang Katutubo (MusKKat), this handsome book explores how food, ecology, nature, and tradition, have shaped the Ivatan way of life in the last 4,000 years.  It also explains too that the Ivatan and the Itbayat, people of the Batanes, knew well how to husband resources through aeons, without depleting or otherwise compromising nature.

While the authors, Corazon S. Alvina and Marian Pastor Roces, make sure to point out that food habits are radically changing, particularly with thorough-going links with the cash economy now in place, there remains more than enough facets of the old nature-and-culture system to recognize its form and its reasons for enduring.

Complemented with insightful photographs by Neal Oshima, the book shows the intricate but robust relationships within the communities of the Batanes, and how traditional Ivatan and Itbayat food is interconnected with the islands’ microsystems.  In one of the notes in the book, Roces writes that while “A Delicate Balance: Batanes Food, Ecology and Community” is a food book, it is not necessarily a food book. Food is only an access point into the Batanes human-in-biosphere ecosystem.

This coming Sunday is Easter Sunday and is a very special day for Christians all over the world. The week before Easter Sunday is the Holy Week and is also the last week of Lent. Most Christians observe the 40 days fasting and prayer to observe a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter.

I can still remember those days when my kids were in Sunday school and the Sunday school teachers will be busy at this time preparing programmes for the children the Sundays prior to Easter Sunday. There will be games like hunting of Easter eggs in their school room or church’s compound. There will also be arts and crafts relating to Easter. Most likely, they will be busy preparing for a presentation by the children for the adults during the Easter Sunday worship service. Usually, the Sunday school hall will be decorated with a backdrop featuring the meaning of Easter. I remembered some of the lovely backdrops used e.g. the Easter spring backdrops for photography for both teachers and children. My children were there together with their friends holding and showing off their arts and crafts as they posed for the photos.

Those days, the backdrop were made of vinyl material. If the vinyl backdrop is not kept with care, there will be ceases and wrinkles and this will spoil the backdrop. The new and latest backdrops are made of cotton cloths and these are collapsible, washable and can be ironed to remove ceases or wrinkles.

Seriously, at the first glimpse, i though, this piece is from my fave brand supreme as they have the same design to in labeling the brand name, on my own opinion only.  But anyway, I simply love this latest piece here from the brand SOPHNET with the cooperation  with the other brand called F.C. As Ive here the piece will be gone in the market this spring summer season but no definite date yet for the releasing but I am pretty sure before the month of April will end this piece here will get this way in the industry as the both brand keen to showcase their new set of collection during summertime as stated.

Both local and international brands are staring off to showcase their own new collection for the upcoming season, spring and summer. No doubt hy mostly men which are into fashion are getting excited to the spring season to come as a lot of brands got their collection pretty decent and finely to have. Today, I’ve found that the awesome men’s brand called CAYLER & SONS had releases an speak peak on what we should see for their coming summer collection feature the rapper duo Rae Sremmurd. I must say, these pieces were light to wear for summer though most of them were made to jeans like the jacket and yet I think it was really still perfectly for the season has they added up an summer details in it and they even ripped it for the better look for summer season.

If you were asking me though, I’ll definitely buy these pieces from this brand because each of their finds were indeed quirky and cant even see it yet to the other brands, in short, you can be unique as you could be by just wearing off these pieces from this brand.

And let me commend they brand by infusing or incorporating the jeans material into summer season which I barely see because on the usual scenario brands were into cotton made of materials as they trying to make pieces for the humid season but CAYLER & SONS breaks that kind of fashion scheme that keeps on circulating as for the spring and summer season comes.
