Listening to naturalistic conversations and talking to people in that language will really help you to get a hold of the new dialect. Go on a trip to the country that you’re interested in learning about and try to rely on your knowledge to get you through an entire day. Order food from a restaurant, ask for directions and tell a taxi driver where you’re staying. These true to life interactions will help you to build your confidence in the language you’re learning.

Perhaps you are trying to learn the language with a friend and you have the opportunity to speak to each other in this way on a daily basis. Get chatting and don’t be afraid to make funny mistakes, this is one of the fun aspects of learning.
